Yikes.
What’s wrong with me, you ask? A lot, actually. But I don’t think any of those problems have anything to do with this picture.
I love doing editorial images, and a lot of what inspires me are problems that I see in the world. I try to dig deep and come up with images that illuminate certain subjects in a manner that will stick with people. I’m not necessarily trying to help solve the problems by drawing (heh) attention to them; I’m just primarily interested in the process of illustration and the end result of affecting the viewer.
The idea for this came to me almost immediately, although I had to work through a few concepts to get to the final depiction as shown here. It is a purposefully enigmatic image, done for my portfolio and eventually used for self-promotion.
